Intense bursts of activity in short amount of time with rest in between. Why is HIIT so awesome?
- You burn more calories in a shorter amount of time. Not only do you burn more calories during a HIIT workout, but 24 hours after your workout you are still burning fat and calories. Doing a 12 min. HIIT workout is equal to 30 min. of running on a treadmill.

While steady state cardio seems to encourage muscle loss, studies show that both weight training and HIIT workouts allow dieters to preserve their hard-earned muscles while ensuring most of the weight lost comes from fat stores.
